Possible gas leak
A gas smell inside or near the meter can be dangerous. Get everyone safe first, then call.
Do this first
- Get everyone out of the house.
- Don't use light switches, phones or flames inside.
- Open doors and windows as you go, if it is safe.
- Turn the gas off at the meter, if it is safe to do so.

Turn the water off at the main to stop the damage, then call — we come out 24/7.
Do this first
- Turn off the water main (usually near the front boundary or the water meter).
- Turn off the hot water system.
- If water is near powerpoints or appliances, switch off at the switchboard.
- Move valuables away from the water.
